Mississauga is well-known for its beautiful foliage. The fall colours in Mississauga start to show towards the end of October and offer a stunning display for those who love to be out in nature.
While you can pretty much go anywhere in the city to find a beautiful view, but there are a few places that stand out as being particularly spectacular. If you are looking for a scenic drive, a quiet place to reflect, or a romantic backdrop, here are the top four places to see the fall colours in Mississauga.
In the Park – Erindale Park
If you want to enjoy the luxuries of a park as you take in the fall colours in Mississauga, Erindale Park is the place for you. Not only is the largest park in the city, the Credit Rivers runs through it. This gives you a chance to enjoy the sound of water from within the comfort of a park.
The paths are heavily forested that make it the ideal place for a leisurely stroll or exhilarating bike ride. If you prefer a nice drive, it runs along the Mississauga Road. Find your favorite spot to enjoy everything nature has to offer without having to go too far.
Along the Credit River – Riverwood
The Credit River is home to another amazing place for viewing the fall colours in Mississauga – Riverwood. With a well-kept trail system, you will be able to check out more than just the leaves.
To help you stay on the trail, they offer trail brochures. Be your own walking guide as you relax and enjoy the cooler air. If you are an avid bird watcher, they have bird watching hikes as well. Registration is free, but required if you want to participate.
To the North – Meadowvale Conservation
If you live or visit the northern part of the city, you should check out the Meadowvale Conservation Area. You can take a nice drive a to Old Derry Road or the south end of Derry Road West to reach one of two trails. Both the Chulham and Glassford trails will lead you through the forest where you can see some unbelievable foliage.
If you would like a more challenging walk, get a trail map and hike all the way to 407. Once you finish one trail, you can check out the other on a different day to take in more of the fall colours.
Deep within the City – Rattray Marsh
Nestled in the city’s heart is one of the most stunning scenes you will see all year. If you go to the lake of the South Mississauga Rattray Marsh, you will find a stroll that is well worth your time.
The sturdy wooden boardwalks give you a rustic trail as you take in the splendor of the fall colours in Mississauga. Part of a conservation area, you will need to stay on the trail. However, that should not be a problem as you will get to see all of the best foliage as you go. There are no other areas quite like it, making this a great place for a reflexive fall walk in nature.
