Everything you need to know about the Toronto Christmas Market

I know it’s still only the beginning of November, but it’s time to start getting into the holiday spirit. The holidays are approaching fast and furious! Toronto’s Distillery District will be hosting their annual Christmas Market, and you do not want to miss out this year. The market opens on November 16th, and runs Tuesday through Sunday up until December 23rd.

This magical month long event celebrates all that Christmas has to offer, the sights, the smells and the sounds. Here you will find local musicians, carollers, artisan food, and festive crafts. The gorgeous cobblestone streets of the historic Distillery District will help to set the mood.

Beer Gardens

During the cold winter season, you are going to want to keep warm at the Christmas Market. Grab a beer, wine or European cocktail at the beer gardens and stay warm next to one of their heated lounges and bonfires.

Photo Ops

If you’re looking for some scenic places to take some photos for your Instagram account or this year’s Christmas cards, the Christmas Market has plenty. The popular giant red “Heart of Christmas” will be decorated with mistletoe, Santa Claus will be posing for photos, and there will be a new large “Joy” sign, and Christmas tree, both of which will be lit up brightly.

Light Tunnel

This year for the first time, the Christmas Market will feature a 100-foot long tunnel, lit up by thousands of tiny Christmas lights. This beautiful attraction was inspired by the Christmas market that takes place in Bern, Switzerland. The Swiss market’s light tunnel boasts a cheese fondue option, as will the Toronto market.
